How Much Big Ole Bird Do I Give my Birds?

Backyard Poultry

 

Application Rate for Backyard Poultry:

  • Apply one teaspoon of Big ole Bird per gallons of fresh drinking water (or ½ ounce for three gallons). The water will have a slight tint to it.
  • Big ole Bird can be given to chicks as early as day 1.
  • We recommend giving it to them for three days for the initial application and then one 24 hour day per week. This recommendation is to preserve resources however many poultry people continuously apply Big ole Bird to maximize its effects and benefits.
  • Please do not apply with any disinfectants or vinegar.
  • No refrigeration is necessary. Keep the product from freezing or from reaching temperatures above 130 degrees.
  • The product is deemed to be valid 18 months from the date of purchase.


Application Rate for Commercial Grower:

  • Run 4 oz per gallon of stock solution in a medicator set at 1:128
  • Start anytime between day 1 and day 5. Run for 72 hours on the initial dose.
  • After the initial dose run one 24 hour period per week.
  • This recommendation is for cost effectiveness, however many growers run Big ole Bird more often to maximize its effects and benefits. Due to the nature of Big ole Bird you can not over apply.
  • We highly recommend running the day before feed change and through the feed change period.  This will help greatly with digestion and will help the birds with the transition.
  • Please do not apply with any disinfectants, vinegar, iodine, peroxide, or acidifiers as this will kill the beneficial bacteria.
  • No refrigeration necessary. Keep the product from freezing or from reaching temperatures above 130 degrees.
  • The product is deemed to be valid 18 months from the date of purchase.
